Life

Well, I resigned in my correspondence games. It is unfortunate, but I just don't have the time to keep up at a pace that's fair for my competitor. Anyway, the summer of chess was fun for me and I am looking forward to graduating college this May and having time once again to enjoy the game.

If you want to stop by and say hi I'll be checking my Christianity blog more often than this one.

such is life indeed.

As you said, there will always be time later for chess.

"there will always be time later..."

Well, not always. ;)

Carpe diem. As long as you are doing the things that you value--and most would value college higher than chess--that's what counts! Hope you let us know every once in awhile how you are doing and tell us when you return to the royal game. :)

I think it's difficult to be serious about your academic studies if you're giving a substantial amount of time and energy to chess.

That's one of the reasons I stopped playing chess competitively after my freshman year of college. I came back to tournament chess two years ago, after a 28 year hiatus, and have proven to myself that I can play as well as when I was 19, and that it's still possible to improve, marginally.

As they say, 'chess will still be there when you come back to it.'

Thank you all for your regards :-)

tanc - Yes there will definitely be time later for chess, and I look forward to it!

likesforests - LOL true, I could die tomorrow! I can tell you exactly when I'm going to return to the royal game...June 2009! Right after I graduate! Only 6 months away! ;-)

es_trick - Amen to that, I found it nearly impossible to give enough attention to each. As another blogger states: "Chess is a demanding mistress"...as is college. The former must give way to the latter...for now.

Chess was one of the reasons I almost didn't graduate from college. I spent too many nights playing chess or hearts. I told people I majored in F&G (fun & games).

Chess will be there later. Good luck as you head to the back stretch of collge.

Polly-LOL sometimes I majored in F&G too! But I guess that's what makes college such a great experience!

Thanks for the good luck wishes, just one more final exam this semester, then I'm practically home free! :-)
